About the 2022 Art Exhibition

The Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Art Exhibition is an annual event organised by the Ministry of Education to provide students with opportunities to showcase artistic talents and to promote art appreciation in schools. The exhibition celebrates the artist in every student and signifies access to art for every student in the art curriculum in schools. The 2022 exhibition features artworks from Secondary schools, Junior Colleges and Millennia Institute.

The 2022 exhibition theme ‘Artist and Sustainability’ invited students to submit original artworks that consider how individual efforts and collective actions could positively impact the world we live in and benefit future generations. Students were to inquire into the meaningful connections between their personal experiences and aspects of sustainability in relation to people, culture, or the environment and reflect on: What does a better future look like? How can we make that happen?

All submissions to the 2022 Art Exhibition will be showcased in the online gallery via the SYF website. In addition, a curated selection of student artworks is presented for public view at National Museum of Singapore. Fringe activities provide opportunities for students to delve deeper into examining the topic of sustainability in a local and contemporary context. Together, these different facets of the 2022 exhibition reflect the vibrancy of artistic responses from our youth and provide an insight into what sustainability means to the young people of today.
